The shooting at Orlando’s gay nightclub “Pulse” was a horrifying massacre. This catastrophe took place in June – Gay Pride Month – where we celebrate and raise awareness worldwide for the LGBT community. We, EMA Japan, hereby convey our sincere condolences to those innocent victims and pray for their families.
This attack is absolutely utterly unpardonable from any spectrum of human nature, not even beginning to consider whether the motivations of the killer were due to ignorance, discrimination, prejudice or hatred towards one’s distinctive sexual orientation/gender identity. President Barack Obama stated, “attacks on any American–regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation–is an attack on all of us and on the fundamental values of equality and dignity that define us as a country.” This shooting targeted on the universal values cherished and embraced by the entire human race.
EMA Japan believes that any individual, regardless of his or her sexual orientation or gender identity, deserves full respect. We are making relentless efforts to render Japan a more understanding society, where diversity is truly appreciated. We will be thrilled to have your cooperation and support, from Japan or any place of the world.
