Two Prominent MPs, Hosono and Wakai, Support Legislation for LGBT Rights.

We met two MPs today, Mr Goshi Hosono and Mr Yasuhiko Wakai to ask them about the legalisation of same-sex marriage. Mr Hosono is former Minister for the Environment and the former secretary-general of the Democratic Party of Japan.

They impressed us by their sympathy with our goal to bring about marriage equality in Japan by 2020 when Tokyo will host the Olympics and Paralympic Games, and showed willingness to take steps towards forming a bipartisan parliamentary league as soon as possible to start the discussion moving the legislative process forward.

Definitely the first political move of this kind in Japan. We hope for your continued support moving towards equal marriage.
