EMA日本をご支援くださっている皆さまへ
同性結婚の実現を通じて人々がより生きやすい社会を目指すNPO法人EMA日本（いーまにっぽん）が設立されてから2周年を迎えます。
この2年間、日本ではLGBTの権利に関して重要な進展がありました。渋谷区や世田谷区における同性パートナーシップ制度の導入や国会におけるLGBT議員連盟の設立などによって、LGBTについて議論することがタブーではなくなりました。
この機会に、昨年、米国連邦最高裁の同性婚を支持する判決を導いたエヴァン・ウォルフソン弁護士をワシントンからお招きし、EMA日本設立2周年のレセプションを開催したく存じます。
当日は日本における同性婚の実現のために活動されている方々や、政治行政、外交、経済、学界など各界でご活躍されている方々をお招きする予定です。また、EMA日本の活動や今後の見通しについてご報告します。是非ご参加ください！

＊エヴァン・ウォルフソン氏の訪日について
EMA日本は今回、米国NGOであるFreedom to Marryの創立者・代表、エヴァン・ウォルフソン氏を日本に招聘します。ウォルフソン氏は長年、NGO代表、そして弁護士として米国の法廷内外で同性婚の実現に尽力し、2015年6月の連邦最高裁において同性婚支持の判決に至る道のりを切り開きました。私たちは今回のレセプションが米国の最前線に立ち、平等な結婚制度を実現させた同氏と直接会うことのできる貴重な機会として、皆様に有益な時間をご提供できることを願っております。
ウォルフソン氏は2月20～22日、東京において今回のレセプションをはじめ、弁護士を対象とするシンポジウム、講演会など様々なイベントに参加し、国会議員や米国大使館といった政治外交関係者、弁護士、そして、LGBTの平等な権利と差別解消のために活躍されている皆さま方と意見交換やネットワークを広げ、今後の活動の推進力となることを期待しております。
今回の訪日を通じて、ウォルフソン氏が提供する情報や意見が、日本の法曹界や市民社会をリードする皆さま方にとって大きな刺激となり、日本における同性結婚の実現に向けた一助となることと確信しております。
Dear EMA Japan Supporters!
EMA Japan was officially incorporated as an NPO in Japan on February 19, 2014 and in the two years since its inception, there has been significant movement in LGBT rights in Japan. Throughout Japan, LGBT rights have become a much more commonly discussed issue resulting in several victories for the cause such as same-sex partnership certification in Shibuya and Setagaya Wards and the foundation of LGBT Parliamentary League.
In honor of all the work that’s been done and in anticipation of all the work to come, EMA Japan is hosting a 2nd Anniversary Reception Party and we hope you can join us!
The event will be a wonderful opportunity to join other supporters of marriage equality in Japan and learn more about EMA Japan, plus a chance to exclusively meet our special guest Evan Wolfson*!
Date: Saturday, February 20, 2016
Time: 19:30 – 21:30, check in begins at 19:00
Where: Jinnan Cafe, Shibuya (〒150-0041 Tokyo, Shibuya, Jinnan, 1 Chome 17-5, Kura Building), a 7-minute walk from JR Shibuya Station
Cost: ¥6,000 includes all you can eat and drink for the evening!
Attire: This is a cocktail event, so semi-formal attire is requested.

* About Evan Wolfson and the EMA Anniversary Events for the weekend of February 20th – 22nd:
Partnering with Evan Wolfson, Founder and President of the US-based organization Freedom to Marry, we will be providing the legal, consular, and general community within Japan with a unique opportunity to meet first hand with someone at the forefront of a successful battle for Marriage Equality. Mr. Wolfson is a lawyer with many years of proven successes in and out of the courtroom and was instrumental in the successful ruling from the US Supreme Court in June of 2015 in favor of Equal Marriage.
The three-day Tokyo event will see Mr. Wolfson and EMA Japan partnering with local lawyers, the US Embassy and its constituents, Japanese Diet Members, and various other members of the equal rights and anti-discrimination work in Japan. From a cocktail reception, to a lawyer’s panel, to a lecture and Q&A series, Mr. Wolfson will be providing information and feedback to help inspire and motivate the Japanese legal and civil leaders to move forward in the fight for Marriage Equality in Japan.
