米フロリダ州・オーランドのゲイクラブで起きた銃乱射事件。プライド月間である6月、各国でゲイパレードなどが開催される中でのあまりにショッキングな惨劇です。亡くなられた方々の冥福をお祈りするとともに、被害に遭われた方々にお見舞いを申しあげます。
他者と異なる性的指向や性自認による偏見や差別がこうした重大な犯罪の背景にあったのであれば、断じて許されないことです。オバマ大統領は「事件は米国民すべてに対する攻撃で、平等と尊厳に関する基本的価値観への攻撃だ」と述べましたが、米国民のみならず、平等や尊厳という全人類に普遍的な価値観への攻撃であると言えるでしょう。
性的指向や性自認がどうであれ、個人として尊重され、多様性が受け入れられる寛容な社会を作ることがEMA日本の目標です。
国内外の皆様と協力して、その目標のために今後も全力を尽くしたいと思います。
The shooting at Orlando’s gay nightclub “Pulse” was a horrifying massacre. This catastrophe took place in June – Gay Pride Month – where we celebrate and raise awareness worldwide for the LGBT community. We, EMA Japan, hereby convey our sincere condolences to those innocent victims and pray for their families.
This attack is absolutely utterly unpardonable from any spectrum of human nature, not even beginning to consider whether the motivations of the killer were due to ignorance, discrimination, prejudice or hatred towards one’s distinctive sexual orientation/gender identity. President Barack Obama stated, “attacks on any American–regardless of race, ethnicity, religion or sexual orientation–is an attack on all of us and on the fundamental values of equality and dignity that define us as a country.” This shooting targeted on the universal values cherished and embraced by the entire human race.
EMA Japan believes that any individual, regardless of his or her sexual orientation or gender identity, deserves full respect. We are making relentless efforts to render Japan a more understanding society, where diversity is truly appreciated.
